11th Season of the Venice Community Concert Series

Dear friends and supporters,

Jamal.jpg

We are excited to be going into our 11th season of the Venice Community Concert Series. A big thank you goes out to Denny Kalgren for his leadership during the first ten years. Many thanks also go to our countless volunteers; such as our ushers and box office attendants, Christine Parry and Diana Bernstein.

As the new Artistic Director, my first priority is to continue to provide exceptional talent in this sacred space. My goal is not only to introduce fresh talent to our series, but also creative programing that engages our community.

Taking a look at the upcoming season, no concert is alike. Each concert is engaging in it’s own way and sure to be enjoyable for the whole family.

In December, we welcome back Craig Williams, performing alongside the 110 voices of Key Chorale and a full brass ensemble under the direction of Maestro Joseph Caulkins. This concert, full of Christmas carols, will be a sure-fire way to start your holiday season.

In January, we will be joined by the jazz stylings of the Stephen Lynerd Group. This eclectic ensemble, which includes vibraphone, piano, bass, and percussion, is sure to impress you with their fresh takes on both classic and new literature.

In February, I am excited to present our Masterworks Concert, which I will be conducting, featuring repertoire for piano and orchestra.  Dr. David Berry, with his thrilling and emotional interpretation, will perform Beethoven and Gershwin on our brand-new concert grand Steinway.

Concluding our 11th Season, we welcome for the first time in Venice, the world famous, Canadian Brass. The hallmark of any Canadian Brass performance is entertainment, spontaneity, virtuosity, and most of all fun—but never at the expense of the music. This is sure to be a spellbinding concert for the whole family.

We look forward to welcoming you all throughout the season. I personally hope that I get to meet and shake hands with each one of you.

Sincerely,

Jamal H. Sarikoki
