Allegiance That Cannot Be Bought
Friday, February 6th
Scripture: And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. (Revelation 13:15–17)
Reflection:
Revelation 13 reveals the pressure placed on believers to compromise their allegiance. Faithfulness to Christ may come at a cost, whether social, economic, or relational. This chapter reminds us that following Jesus has always required courage and conviction. Our identity is not defined by what the world offers or demands, but by belonging to Christ. When we remain loyal to Him, even under pressure, we bear witness to a greater Kingdom and a truer authority that cannot be shaken.
Prayer:
Jesus, strengthen my loyalty to You. Help me choose faithfulness even when it is costly. Amen.
