Praying According to His Will

Scripture: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” — 1 John 5:14 

Reflection: 

Prayer is not about convincing God to do what we want. It is about bringing our desires into alignment with His will. Jesus Himself modeled this in the Garden when He prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done.” That kind of prayer requires trust. We can bring God our strongest desires while still surrendering the outcome to Him. When we pray this way, prayer becomes an act of worship. We acknowledge that God's wisdom is greater than ours and that His purposes are ultimately good. The more we know God, the more our prayers begin to reflect His heart. 

Prayer: 

Father, align my desires with Your will. Give me confidence to ask boldly while also giving me the humility to say, “Your will be done.”
